Support the battle against COVID-19

Metaxa Hospitality Group, wanting to actively contribute to the national plan against the COVID-19 pandemic, has decided to financially support the Laboratory of Clinical Virology of the School of Medicine of the University of Crete and assume the amount of 30,000 euros for this purpose. This upgrade shall expand the laboratory’s reliable molecular testing capacity and support the battle against Covid-19.

The Laboratory, headed by Professor Georgios Sourvinos, has been designated as the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus Reference Laboratory and is called upon to detect a large number of molecular tests of the COVID-19 virus, covering the entire Region of Crete. The Laboratory is expected to play a pivotal role for the Public Health of Crete, thus enabling the gradual restart of the economy and society’s return to normality.

The Group also decided to donate 10 tablets to the Elementary School of Kalessa, in the Municipality of Malevizi, for the students to make use of during the period of distance learning.
